Our history
Roll Outdoors stemmed from, ‘mountain bike’ mad Sam’s love for all things bikes. While he was completing his studies on the Isle of Skye, Sam joined forces with his mother, Maura, and together they created the bike hire business called ‘Roll’. During his time on Skye, Sam quickly developed a passion for paddle sports. This, combined with his sister Niamh’s love for outdoor adventure, and their father Mike’s history of mountaineering, skiing, and remarkable ability to fix anything, led to the birth of Roll Outdoors.
As the younger children in the family grew older, they each found a separate interest within the business, ranging from leading activities and tours to teaching and promoting safe and accessible paddlesports, as well as IT and photography. The result is a strong and passionate family unit of outdoor enthusiasts, guided by their “Roll Mom,” who strives to keep everyone in check and not dwell too much on the daring (yet fun) activities the kids often enjoy together during their time off. These activities include white water paddleboarding, cliff jumping, gorge walking, and even bungee jumping!
At Roll Outdoors, you will receive a warm-hearted welcome, and you will often leave not only as a valued customer but as a genuine addition to our already large family!
